The Dangers of Drinking Water

There’s no doubt about it. Water is a healthy beverage, especially when compared to soda, juice or alcohol. But just because it’s healthy, doesn’t mean that you can drink as much of it as you want without ill effect. It doesn’t even mean that the recommendation of drinking 8 glasses per day is a wise move.

The Dangers of Drinking Water

Sure, everybody talks about “everything in moderation”, but that is rarely followed by water enthusiasts. Over the past decade or so, I have met many, many people who have put themselves into a coma or otherwise exacerbated a health condition by consuming excessive amounts of water — often under the direction of a doctor or self-educated health practitioner with dubious credentials.

The truth is that people are not only drinking too much water, they are drinking the worst kind of water. Water that is too pure is incredibly dangerous to drink. Water almost never exists as simply H2O in nature, it is a complex of many nutrients that come together to create balance in the body.

In my new book, Drowning in 8 Glasses: 7 Myths about Water Revealed, readers are taken on a journey of water drinking habits as viewed from traditional cultures as well as the scientific truths about what water can and cannot do for your body.

Let’s face it. Most of the information we are given about health is fueled by big business and the benefits of water, as we normally understand them, are no different. Bottled water companies have made billions selling us dreams of weight loss, heart health, clear skin, and an overall better life by literally drowning ourselves in more water. Unfortunately, the opposite is often true.
